She was standing, leaning against the trunk of a tree in a big garden full of many different beautiful plants. Birds were flying around the garden, happily chirping as the sun slowly went down. The view was very beautiful and amazing.
Even though she was looking at the sunset, her mind was somewhere else. She was lost in deep thought.
Beside her stood a hospital worker, a doctor who was about 45 years old. The doctor gently touched her and said softly,
"It’s almost evening, let’s go so you can do your prayers."
The girl just looked at the doctor without blinking, like she didn’t understand what she said. Tears started to gather in her eyes, and she let out a deep breath.
The doctor held her hand and pulled her gently into a hug, saying,
"Come on, sweet heart, are you already breaking your promise to me?"
The girl rested her head on the doctor’s chest as tears rolled down her face. The doctor closed her eyes and gently patted her back, feeling very sorry for her.
They both turned when they heard footsteps in the garden. A man was standing there, watching them, but he didn’t come close. The doctor greeted him respectfully.
The girl quickly pulled away from the doctor and turned her back to the man, showing that she didn’t want to see him. Tears were falling from her eyes. She felt like she couldn’t breathe, just like always.
Suddenly, she started crying very hard and held onto the tree beside her so she wouldn’t fall. The man didn’t even reply to the doctor’s greeting; he just turned around and left the garden.
The doctor quickly held the girl, afraid she might fall. She helped her sit down gently on the soft carpet spread out on the grass and tried to calm her down.
She said,
“Why, my dear sister? Why won’t you keep the promise you made to me?”
The girl’s voice was shaky as she replied,
“I’m sorry... I can’t do it... I swear I can’t.”
The doctor hugged her tightly and rubbed her back gently. She felt so much pity for her.
She had treated many patients in her career as a doctor, but none had touched her heart like this girl.
She wished she could take away all her pain.
She wished she could make her happy again.
She wished she could help her forget the past and live in the present.
The doctor then softly said,
“Halysaah...”
