Life’s system and history are like a mirror of destiny. It makes you see yourself as a human being, and it reminds you that life is not fully in your own control. God created the world and all the different creatures living in it – both the ones we can see and the ones only He knows about. But out of all His creations, He made it clear that human beings are special. This is especially obvious when we look at the verses of the Holy Qur’an.
This does not mean that other creatures are not important, but God gave human beings a special honor and raised them in rank. In Surah Al-Baqarah, Allah told the angels that He would create a “khalifah” (a leader) on Earth – meaning Adam – and He ordered the angels to bow to him (a bow of respect, not worship). This showed the special status of humans, even over angels.
God did not leave humans all the same. He divided us into two sexes – male and female. He created us with different skin colors – black and white – and placed us in different regions. He made our religions different, and even our languages are not the same, so that sometimes someone can speak and another person will not even understand, even if he’s insulting him.
We are also different in what we are given: some people are rich, some have wealth, some have knowledge, some have the skill to speak well, or the strength to work hard. Having one of these things does not mean you are better than someone else. You might be rich in this world but poor in the Hereafter because you lacked good deeds. You might be poor here but rich in the Hereafter because of your good deeds. You might be ever single knowledgeable but your knowledge may not benefit you on Judgment Day because you did not use it sincerely or correctly. You might be ignorant, but end up with a good fate because you did not harm others and did not follow bad paths.
