As they entered the headquarters, the lawyers arrived almost simultaneously. However, before they could reach him, he was taken into an interrogation room. The room had only a table and two facing chairs. He surveyed the room with a grim expression before pulling out a chair to sit. Just as he settled, an officer came in and respectfully asked if he needed anything, like tea. After a brief pause and a glance at the officer, he smiled slightly, signaling no. The officer left, and Maash leaned back in his chair, closing his eyes.
After nearly twenty minutes, the door opened again. Maash remained motionless and kept his eyes shut until the officer sat down. The officer lightly tapped the table, but Maash still didn't move. Only when the officer grew impatient did Maash finally open his eyes and look at him without standing up. The officer couldn't hold his gaze and looked away, saying, “Sir, we don't have much time. If you don't mind, can you answer a few questions for us?”
“Get straight to the point,” Maash said curtly.
The officer was irked but continued, “There are containers that left Lagos two nights ago for Ghana. Inside one of them, we found young girls who were clearly being trafficked. Also, beneath where the girls were hidden, we found contraband.”
“Such as...?” Maash asked sarcastically. The officer, now visibly angry, stared at him but continued, “The drivers confirmed they came from your company.” He pushed some photos towards Maash. Without picking them up, Maash just glanced at them and said dismissively, “I don't think I recognize any of these faces.”
“We can't take your word for it because you could be hiding their identities. However, you can't deny the containers belong to you.”
