In a slowly, the car stopped near a big gate. The sound it made showed that it had traveled a long distance. The driver didn’t press the horn, but instead, drove the car near a tree by the side of the gate. Some elderly men came out from the back seat, while a young man stepped out from the driver’s seat. The young man greeted the driver politely.
They walked towards the house gate. The young man knocked once or twice before an old man peeked through a small door in the gate.
The old man quickly opened the door and said, "Ah! Alhaji, welcome! I hope your journey went well." He shook their hands warmly. They responded, "Yes, thank you, Malam Sani. How are you?"
With a smile, Malam Sani said, "Alhamdulillah (Praise be to God)."
Before leading them in, he said, "Let me take you to Alhaji. May God help him, he is inside."
They entered the compound, following Malam Sani to where the owner of the house was meeting with his visitors.
When they reached the door, Malam Sani stepped inside and said, "Bismillah (In the name of God), please come in, welcome."
He quickly went to inform Alhaji's close friend, Malam Bukar, as he was instructed earlier.
They entered the living room, greeting everyone with "Salam" (peace greeting). The living room looked like a royal palace, filled with beautiful things that showed wealth and comfort.
With a happy and welcoming face, Alhaji Jafar Mai Yadi approached them, saying, "Ah! Alhaji Sulaiman, it’s a surprise to see you today, after such a long journey."
But deep inside, he was surprised. He knew there was no urgent matter that would bring them at this time. They were still expected in three days, even though they had already provided everything needed. All that was left was to wait. But he thought, whatever it is, may it be good.
After the greetings, one of Alhaji Jafar’s sons entered, greeted the visitors, and served them drinks and water before leaving.
