The village was calm and full of blessings. A cool breeze was blowing, carrying the fresh air. It seemed like it could rain at any moment because of the heavy clouds. Near a pile of trash that had sharp edges, there was a beautiful little girl, probably no older than ten. She was shivering because of the cold wind and the coming storm. She didn’t have proper clothes—no hat, and her long hair fell over her shoulders. She wore only a small, worn-out vest and an old, torn pair of trousers that were ripped around the knees and hips. The trousers were so short they barely covered her. Her teeth were clattering from the cold, and she also had a slight fever.
Suddenly, the rain started pouring heavily. In less than a minute, the little girl was completely soaked. She quickly ran behind the trash pile, trying to find shelter in an old, broken building that was close to collapsing under the weight of the trash being dumped there.
Even in that place, she couldn’t avoid the rain, as there was nowhere to hide. She crouched there for nearly two hours, waiting for the rain to stop. By that time, she was trembling badly from the cold, and it was getting close to sunset.
As she lay there, she started hearing the footsteps of people, likely heading to the mosque for prayers. She lifted her head slightly, peeking out to watch them pass by. She silently prayed that she would see Hamdan. Her prayer was answered, but sadly, Hamdan was walking with Uncle Saban (Sauban), as she had once heard Hamdan call him.
